Show MISSIONARIES TROUBLES Reverend John Anderson Gives His Views About Them NEW YORK Aug 9The Rev John Anderson attached to the China Inland In-land mission in West China is here on his way back to mission work The I China Inland society having its headquarters head-quarters i London has about 500 workers work-ers in China I is unsectarian Dr Anderson said today My cable advice from Cheng Tu capital of the province of Sechuen in Western China are that all but one of the 100 or more missionaries of the various societies have been driven down the Yang Tse Kiang The trouble must have been sudden At Cheng T belonging to our mission were Mr and Mrs Granger and family Mrs Cormuck Miss Ibis and Mrs Riley and a Scotchman named Vail the only missionary now remaining in that region At Yah Choo we had no people peo-ple but American Baptists were rep > 1 tprl thprp 1 At Choon King on the Yangtso Kiang in the same province there are four missions ours the Methodists the London missions the French and Scotch Bible society The place has about 500000 inhabitants and has a British viceconsul Our people there are Mr and Mrs Willet I do not know what has become of those who have fled from Cheng Tu They are probably seeking points of safety along the river |
