Show SOCIAL AMUSEMENTS The Caledonian club is making great t preparations for the banquet at G AlB A-lB hall in celebralion of the anniversary anniver-sary of Uhe poet Burns birthday on r Friday evening Mrs A W HBcCune threw open her home 270 West fou h Temple street yesterday from 2 to 7 p m for a tear tea-r the purpose of raising money to defray the expenses of a delegate to tb Atlanta National Women Suffrage II association which meets at Atlanta Ga on the 31st insL A musical programme In which Miss Cecelia Sharp and Sir Welby Dougal I pianists assisted and Sir D G Cal der exhibited the graphophone was rendered Sirs Amelia Young Mrs Margaret Oainc Miss Isabel Sears Miss Kate Wells Miss Cathie Dougall and Miss Fay McCune received and refreshments refresh-ments were served bv Mrs Walter rn L Beatie and Mrs Ella Hyde There was a goodly attendance Many ladies prominent in society circles cir-cles and club work as wen as those more directly identified with the woman wo-man suffrage movement were present 6 The people of the Sixteenth ward have recently enjoyed three delight ful gatherings The first was a feast prepared by the ladies of the Relief society under the directIon of the bishbPric of the ward when some 300 worthy people gathered around the It oard anvong Them being over fifty Itwortihy wSdows the aged and infirm and those who had borne the heat and burden of the day Bishop Kessler presided and after the dinner remarks re-marks were made by President Angus M OannOn Elder Joseph E Taylor Bishop W B Preston Bishop R T Burton and Bishop John R Winder The next occasion was the grand 4 rally of the children on Saturday last when over 100 Oittle ones met and danced in the new hall The closing offadr was the happiest of them all It was ore the occasion of the worthy blshops seventhninth birthday and nearly 500 Sunday school n I t > JA il i children marched from the Sixteenth ward assembly hall to the bishops residence to wish him many happy returns re-turns On Sunday evening special services ser-vices were held wihan a tribute to the bishop was read by Mrs Roundy After Af-ter the exercises a pleasant time was spent at the home of the bishop and I a presentation was made by the people peo-ple of < the ward a 08 The Ionic club gave another hop at Christensens hall last evening The committee In charge have concluded to give two more dancing parties before closing the series |
