Show I H A CLOSE CALL JOSEPH VAX STEETEH TUB VICTIM I OF AN EXPLOSIONS Tire Accident Occurred Yesterday Afternoon at the Natural Gas Trench Mnt One Man Injured Joseph Van Steeter who Ia charge of the blasting for the natural gas trench was the victim ofa painful accident ac-cident at 5 oclock yesterday afternoon after-noon and that it did not result fatallj is a wonder I He was operating at the end of the trench in the northern part of town and had charged four holes with fourS four-S pounds of blasting powder each topped with half a stick of giant The first one was discharged all right and lieS lie-S approached the second to light i when it exploded the cause being the shock from the first shot Van Steeter was standing almost over the charge when it went oft and was lifted off his feet while his face was bruised whie badly by the flying dirt The rest of the workmen work-men were about a hundred yards distant dis-tant when the explosion occurred and Van Steeter was the only one injured He was at once conveyed to his home 154 North Ninth West street and Dr Beer was called in The physician physi-cian found upon examination that the injuries while painful were not dangerous dan-gerous and the victim of the accident will be about again Jn a short time |
