| Show IT WAS LIVELY A rather lively scrap occurred at the 1 Union depot yesterday morning just after thu arrival of the Rio Grande Western n from the south The aggressor and van c quSshcil were three Salt Lake parties well known in society but whose names I have not been divulged They were eiv route for the west and boarded the train at Salt Lake Intending to make the Southern Pacific train at 2 p m Their troubles began immediately after they left the city They evidently had hotboxes hot-boxes and unmercifully scorched the conductor of the Pullman because there I was no Ice water In the car The porter however procured them some snow water wa-ter and this alleviated their cravings till they reached Ogden They were evidently determined to wreak their vengeance on some one and started In on the man who ices the cars at the depot and this is where they j made a grievous error They removed I the ladder when the man had reached the top of the car and otherwise aggravated him beyond endurance so he promptly descended from the car and licked the throe of them To one he presented a pair of black eyes considerably ruttied the skin of the face of another and the third was a physical wreck when he letup let-up on him Then lie handed them over to the caro of the nightpoliceman at the depot while he went in quest of a city I officer During the interval however t they turned loose on the policeman and law clawed the back of his neck uncomforta My and one managed to escape but the others were1 held till the arrival of the officer and taken to the city jail where they each put up 1S for their appearance It is supposed that the other went weston west-on the morning train |
