| Show pthlnnN The various lodges of the Order of lOiights of Pythias have each had a good attendance at the conventions during the past weekS week-S On Monday evening Lee Ransohoff and J A Parke were admitted by card into Calanthe Lodge No5 On Tuesday evening N D Estes was initiated into the rank of page in Myrtle Lodge No1 Alexander M C Smith was Instructed Instruct-ed in the second lesson rank of esquire on Wednesday in Monitor Lodge No3 A C McConachie A H Vogler H Myers W J Orem and R B Shepard received the rank of page on Friday evening in Zion Lodge No 12 Salt Lake Division No 1 uniform V Li > j i FlO rank was a blaze of glory Saturday evening Brother H C Wardleigh was down from Ogden and was the guest of Captain Hall and Sir Knight Meakin At S p m Colonel Ward leigh inspected the division twenty four men in line after which he installed in-stalled the following officers for the coming year Sir Knight captain W W Hall Sir Knight Lieutenant R Baker Sir Knight Herald W M Rieley Sir Knight Recorder William Husbands Sir Knight Treasurer C T Husbands Sir Knight Guard J C Davis Sir Knight Sentinel John Higson I The meeting was enjoyed by all I and a hearty vote of thanks and words of appreciation were extended to Colonel Wardleigh for the able manner In which he performed the I I duties of his office and for the kindly words of advice and encouragement to the division The future never looked more promising for division j No 1 than it does now Last evening about one hundred and I fifty knights headed by the uniform I division marched to the First Baptist I church corner Second South and Sec1 I ond West streets The church was beautifully decorated for the occasion I i The neat uniforms and glistening i equipments added lustre to the scene I The sermon by Rev H B Steelmin i was impressive and eloquent filled with j gems of thought which must result in i good to the listeners he urged the brothers to live nearer to God by living i to the principles of the order The evening was one of pure intellectual intel-lectual pleasure and the thirtyfirst anniversary an-niversary will long be remembered by I those present as one of the most pleasant pleas-ant Pythian events in Utah The anniversary ball will take place on Tuesday the 19th last the order being I be-ing organized February 19 1864 1 Top five lodges and the uniform rank I division are working with a will to j make it the event of the season I I II I |
