HOLIDAY IN NEVADA Seven Thousand People Greeted Bryan at Carson Carson Nev Sept 5This has been general holiday throughout western Nevada all business having been sos i tc 1 pended in honor of the visit of William Jennings Bryan All the mines were cl se down for the day and Virginia City sentaOOO underground workers to the massmeetlns held here today In Capitol square t Mr Bryan was brought over from Lake Tahoe ill a coach dawn by six horses and escorted Tiy the le inS Democrats and gilverilesof Nevada He arrived late lathe afternoon and went atnce to address the open air massmeeting at which 7000 persons were present He was received with tremendous enthusiasm the conclusion of every sentence being emphasized by tumultuous applause Mr Bryan spoke for over a hour devoting himself principally to the question of expansion There is no need of m talking to you upon the money question he said Everyone knows that Nevada is all right for silver He repeated the arguments against expansion made In his San Francisco speech declaring against what he pronounced pro-nounced Ua triplicate of evils expansion expan-sion imperialism and mllltaryism Mr Bryan departed for the east on this evenings train being accompanied to the depot by practically the entire population of Carson who cheered him until the receding train carried him out of sight
