Show A WAY OUT I I1aytcn and Kysvie May Appear In Jrendly Suit Special Correspondence Kasie March 21A well attended massmeetng of the citizens of Karsie was held today to hear the report or the special committee that has been trying to arrange for an amicable adjustment of the Kaysville and Layton ifcultes 1yrum Stewart for the committee reported re-ported that the joint committee had met everal times and numerous propositions as to a division of the indebtedness had been made but no agreement had beca reached The Layton members of the committee had offered to pay a mi tax as a full settlement of their portion of the I debt but the Kaysvllle members demanded demand-ed a Ne 3em either side I ould yield and hCce the committee desired de-sired advien After several hours of discussion the people by vote decided that the Kaysvle branch of the committee had gone as far as justice demands and they refused to concede further In the matter oC settling the debt This is loked upon by many as an end to the negotiations inasmuch as the proposition has ben once declined There is however still one ray of hope or a settlement and that comes from the advIce given by Apostles F M Lyman M W Merrill and A H Lund who sug sested that the whole matter be submitted submit-ted to the istict Curt as provide bylaw by-law not in the nature of an unfriendly suit but on an agreed stipulation of facts and that the court b asked to adjust propertY rights to decide what part of the debt each party shall pay and to define I new boundaries of the city that will b agreeable to both factions I that advice ad-vice Is followed much expense and bitterness bitter-ness may still be avoided The resolution adopted today instructed the local com rnittee to propose that the advice he accepted ac-cepted and acted upon and it is sincerely hoped that Layton people will agree to the proposition The Layton massmetng called for the same purpose a the one held here today will mect tomorrow afternoon when some met pfnile acton riIl probably be taken |
