Show I WILL PUSH THE BUTTON I Cleveland to Open the National Sueneerfext P1TTSBURG Pa June 7 Everything Every-thing is in readiness for the opening of the twentyeight national saenger fest tomorrow night and a number of delegaton of singers who will participate partici-pate have arrived The city was t visited this evening by a heavy rain J j which had the effect of destroying the brilliancy of the decorations already upon many buildings but fortunately the principal decorations will not be in I place before tomorrow The central board of control held a special meeting today to arrange the details of the opening event tomorrow night President Cleveland at Washington Wash-ington will at 8 p m touch the button but-ton which will illuminate the immense electrical lyre in Music hall thus opening open-ing the saengerfest After the formal opening Paul Schneider president of the central board of the twentyseventh fest held in Cleveland in 1893 will present the flag the trophy of the saengerbund to President DImllng Lieutenant Governor Gover-nor Lyons will make an address of welcome wel-come and Mayors Ford and Geyer will act in a similar capacity for Pittsburg and Allegheny The fest oration by Rev Frederick 1 Rouff of the German Evangelical Protestant Pro-testant church will follow > i |
