scattered over the district they would have one central building r large enough to accommodate all the children of the district having the school graded would not require a agrest great or er number of teachers for double the number of pupils can be taught successfully if they are in one grade instead of being ca in in mixed the discipline of pupils when under a principal in a large graded craded school is not to be compared with that of scattered schools both money and labox labor in building in heating cating li and cleaning would be saved also time of the trustees and county superintendent in visiting 0 sc schools h would rould b be e saved of course distance for the children who live on the outskirts is the great objection to the one central building ca but it s seems coins t eliat it tali this s distance might bo be more easily overcome tha than n the numerous drawbacks now accompanying in the present condition of affairs f irs such as over crowded schools necessarily inefficient teaching poorly heated building some roasting near the ste stove ve while others ha in the far corners and near the great crack under the door are freezing under these circumstances it talf takes es the attention of pupils when all are studying one and the same lesson A very sue successful ce nsf ul primary teacher in salt like L life city heard ill all recite then had all study instead of half
