Show DISTRICT 1 SOUTH BOUNTIFUL AL A J ridges prin when I 1 was informed that the clipper had decided to devote some space in each issue to educational cat cati ional oual matters and iwas I 1 was requested to furnish some spicy matter something aluch the people needed I 1 was forcibly reminded of the story of a minister who knew how to pray A family named beaver con consisting ssell of a father and three sons had af often ton laughed lau glied to scorn a pious old minister ono one of the boys was bitten by a rattlesnake and was not expected to live so the minister was sent for he found tho the young tat man very penitent the minister called on tho the family to kneel and lie ho prayed in in this wise 10 0 lord we thank thee for the rattlesnakes w wo ti thank thee that a rattlesnake has bitten jim we pray thee send a rattlesnake to bite john send ane to bits bite bill and 0 lord send the bigga biggest st kind of a rattlesnake to bite the old man for nothing L but rattlesnakes will ever br bring in the beaver family to repentance it would be quite unsatisfactory to attempt a review of conditions and proceedings 1 in the work of south bountiful during the alie year now nearly ended because there is neither time nor space Ilo however wever much can be said in of the work of pupils and parents in their support of the schools in a majority of cases the progress of the pupils has been highly gratifying and in many instances quite remarkable it is safe to say that never before have the children shown such interest in school work and such love for schools although this has not been complete it is certain that the beelin feeling to support the schools among the parents and a desire to attend re regularly among the pupils liar have ve grown apace where the parents have manifested the highest regard for our school work their children have made the best records and the reverse is certainly true for when the parents have found occasion to detain their children from regular attendance tho the progress has been much less satisfactory our patrons are patriotic to school interests but some unthinkingly n place in an obstacle in ta the ie way ind and lo 10 greatly retard the progress of the whole work by keeping 0 their chi iaron from school sometimes I 1 for tho the merest trill trifle e much bf 01 the irregular attendance horev 1 or er is is due to necessity and wo we hope that this will decrease considerable progress progress has been made this year in grading in the central school which aich has an enrollment of pupils the grades are well defined As each teacher has four grades and nearly twice as many pupils as is convenient an idea ide a of his task can be formed although some students stud crits in the upper grades will wiil not be promoted on account of irregular attendance it is thought in that the work in each ea I 1 grade lias has bednall bee nall that is required in one year the eighth grade are arc well although they have been working worlden C under some dis disadvantage advant ago having r taken nearly two years work in one the schools in houses no 2 and no 3 are mixed schools of four or five classes and the facilities aro arc exceedingly in poor when the people fully sense tha crying need of decent school buildings and the irreparable injury being I 1 done at the present time to tb childrens minds bodies ind and future I 1 prospects then they may do something and the children who now receive receive the least I 1 possible los advant advantage ago fr from om the scho school 01 will not bo be entirely without the opportunities port unities which the creator in intended for all south bountiful can bildo herself on having al some very bright and intelligent children they are certainly not
