| Show MXSK A2SD SHEFFIELD The Civil Authorities Will Act at the Proper Time The public seems to have become somewhat some-what mixed by recent developements and various reports concerning the Linse case The civil authorities have not given the matter up but are watching developments and will proceed when the proper time arrives the court arres It is not believed that martial proceedings will be brought to ahead a-head and even i Linse and Sheffield are tried and acquitted by I court martial its it-s held that they could be tried again in a civil court It is believed that if complaints plaints charging Linse and Sheffield with murder are lodged and warrants of arrest ar-rest placed in the hands of the United States marshal the men would be surrendered sur-rendered but inasmuch as the men are to be held in custody at the post and there is no grand jury in session nothing would be gained by bringing them down and keeping them In the penitentiary at the expense of the territory until next September Nothing is known here concerning the alleged request of the military authorities authori-ties that the United States attorney be instructed in-structed to defend Linse and Sheffield Such aproposition is considered absurd |
