| Show A Question of Today Of course our Liberal friends do not like = said about the I anything employment of strangers in preference to bona fide residents on the public works It is very mean and Ua vile infamy to expose he methods employed to bring in hordes of laborers from other cities Liberals never did anything of that kind before of course ot Will THE HERALD tell who worked the colonization schemes and similar chemes that have been worked in the sp p ast we are asked Of course it will if there is any need to go back to ancient history But we are talking about the present What difference does it make to existing plots who worked similar dodges several years ago That is merely another Liberal rick to divert attention from present Liberal maneuvres However THE HERALD has an abundance abun-dance of proof whenever it is necessary to produce it about colonization regis ering workmen outside the city to vote at city elections repeating of voters putting mens names on lists who never took the registration oath and sundry other Liberal diversions connected with the colonizing of voters which would make very interesting reading and might send some persons to the penitentiary THE HERALD may tell who did all that if it becomes needful to do so But present facts are enough to deal with We do not care to bring up past issues i We would not mention them now but for Liberal insinuations and bluffs They do not affect the question ques-tion of why batches of workmen who have lived in this city for years are being be-ing laid off and their places filled by newcomers Nor why placards are posted in distant cities inviting men to come to Salt Lake for employment on the public works These are things of today and they cannot be smothered up by pretended pre-tended inquiries about other matters nor be knocked out of sight by an ava lanch of Tribune vituperation How about Salt Lako work for Salt Lake workmen in the month of June in the year eighteen hundred and ninetythree |
