Show Officers Contest for the Spalding Medal CHICAGO Sept 15At Fort Sheridan today to-day in the officers contest for the Spalding Spald-ing medaltho competitors were Lieutenant Colonel Hotchkiss Lieutenant Ramsey and Lieutenant Hughes who had finished at the SOO yard range with 202 210 and 193 points respectively Lieutenant Ramsey made seven bullseyes out of a possible ten at 600 yards and all regarded him as the probable winner yet he only scored eighteen points and Lieutenant Hughes nineteen while LieutenantColonel Hotch kiss finished with thirty points and n total of 232 a margin of four points over Lieutenant Lieu-tenant Ramsey who was next in order Lieutenant Wright company DThirteenth infantry captured the purse for enlisted men having a total of 240 points He also received the eighteen months subscription offered by the Kansas City Dailu Times to the enlisted competitor making the greatest great-est score at 1000 yards For the greatest number of bullseyes at 1000 yards Corporal Corpo-ral J H Vanscoive gets one one years subscription to the same paper |
