Show ANTITHIRD PARTY The Farmers Assembled at St Louis Have a Lively Time I THENY DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION Tammany Gets the Entire New York City Representation Flowers Friends Confi dent but Hill May be Nominated ST Louis Sept 15Tho antithird and antisubtreasury wing of the National Farmers alliance met at 1030 this morning morn-ing Not more than Half the number of delegates expected being present The convention was called to order and a temporary tem-porary organization effected by the election elec-tion of U S Hal expresident of the Missouri Mis-souri alliance as chairman After the appointment ap-pointment of a committee on credentials the temporary organization was made permanent per-manent I was decided to appoint a committee com-mittee of five to outline a plan of procedure to be presented to the convention this afternoon and at 1230 a recess was taken The afternoon session was very lively The committee on resolution includes W S McAllister of Mississippi Dr Ransom of Tennessee C A Hitler J F Davidson of Missouri B C Bragg of Texas W D Wilsey of Illinois and R J McConnell of Iowa The committee went to work stance to prepare a platform Dr W Polk Yea mans of Missouri delivered address on the government land law and sub treasury schemes opposing both The committee on resolutions made a partial report embodying the principles of the Fort Worth platform with an additional resolution denouncing C W McCune as a corruptionist and the henchman of others This clause of the report caused a heated debate Wade of Tennessee insisting the clause should be stricken out He hold the convention was not called to make personal attacks although he acknowleged McUunos dishonesty dis-honesty Yeamans of Missouri also urged the clause be stricken out Chairman Chair-man Hall argued against the motion to strike out Ho denounced McCune as the fool of politicians and monopolists having accepted a bribe from them the alliance should denounce him McAllister of Mississippi Mis-sissippi said McCune is an octopus encircling encir-cling in slimy coils the escutcheon of the order and should bo denounced Murray and Goodman of Texas also denounced McCune and the motion to strike out the denunciatory clause was finally defeated 2G yeas 42 nays I is probable the platform morrow plat-form as presented will be adopted to |
