name of Winslow in charge Brown soon became cognizant cog-nizant of his absence and began complaining of being very thirsty He had watched his opportunity oppor-tunity and had with some kind of an Instrument unlocked his cell door His pleadings for water seemed very pitiable and finally Winslow opened the jail door and started to get the suffering suf-fering creature a cup of scqua pura It was necessary to pass his cell door and as be did so Brown shot out of his cell ana ran up the stairway stair-way t Winslow started after him and when he had reached the steps In front of the court house he f fired his revolver at the escaping desperado I The shot came so close to him he was satisfied to stop and fell to the pavement About this time Watchman Lampert happened on the scene and Sir Brown was scon landed again behind the bars All the prisoners could easily have escaped but one ol their number a man by the name of Hoers convicted of rape held the door on thorn Broun was handcuffed and
