Show Gould Buys the White Oaks Road Er PASO Tex April 2S0ne of the largest and most important deals in the history of El Paso was consummated today to-day when Jay Gould became owner of what is known as the El Paso White Oaks railroad The report of Receiver Davis ot the Kansas City El Paso Mexican Mex-ican Railroad company White Oaks showing show-ing the sale of the road was made to Jay Gould for 550000 was presented to District Dis-trict Judge Falvoy and the court asked to approve the sale After examination of the report and hearing evidence tho salo was approved Gould states the lino will be pushed through tho state line between Texas and New Mexico but he has not disclosed tho ultimate destination of the road From other reliable sources it is learned the road will extend through Lincoln county New Mexico tapping thereat the-reat coal fields of White Oaks and tho cattle growing mining ana lumber districts dis-tricts on to Washburn in Pan Handle county Texas where it will meet tho Fort Worth Denver which is part of the Union Pacific system and also the St Louis Fort Scott Wichita tho southern division of the Missouri Pacific Kiowa Kansas thus placing El Paso in direct communication with all of Mr Goulds great railway systems |
