Lano James Dunn W C Martin and Joseph Bergiers and they reported We the Republicans of Logan county in delegate convention assembled desire to reaffirm re-affirm our devotion to the Republican party and fully endorse our present state representation representa-tion In Congress We believe that the true prosperity of our country requires the recognition recogni-tion of silver as the equal of gold as money therefore be it Resolved That the delegates elected to represent repre-sent Logan county in the state convention to beheld be-held at Pocatello May 5 1892 be and are hereby instructed to insist upon the adoption of resolutions resolu-tions bytbat convention instructing the delegates dele-gates tothe national convention as to silver as follows tThat they shall be bound by no caucus which ignores the free and unlimited coinage of sliver That they shall use their utmost endeavors to have inserted in the national ulatform a plank demanding the free and unlimited coinage of silver ° That they shall vote for no candidate for president or vicepresident who is not committed commit-ted to the free and unlimited coinage of silver and nominated on the platform demanding the free and unlimited coinage of silver Resolved That the Logan county delegation beand are publicly required to pledge themselves them-selves to vote for no candidate at the state Republican Re-publican convention who will not publicly pledge himself to comply with the foregoing resolutions and Resolved That all persons going before this convention as nominees shall previous to being balloted for pledge themselves to comply strictly with these instructions Resolved That we demand full protection to all American industries and the fullest protection protec-tion to all laborers WORDY FIGHTING But before this conglomeration of nonsense non-sense could be adopted King of Shoshone told his Republican brethren that their party could not win with such a plank that no party could that the two great parties would ignore the free silver question in I their platforms and that this wasnt a place for framing a platform for the Minneapolis I Min-neapolis convention and that the resolutions resolu-tions didnt amount to flip But young Sheehan had a speech committed I com-mitted to memory for just this occasion and as it bad been read by some of his friends during recess Sheehan let it go in true schoolboy style but A Jackson Heash and Brother Rails of the Third Party applauded Sheehan roundly Sheehan I Shee-han abused DeLamar for aspiring for Minneapolis Min-neapolis representation and said politicians and monoylenajrs like DeLamar King and LIB delegation made buncombe out of manipulating the tariff and other questions But King who is a strong party and silver sil-ver man still insisted the resolutions were all bosh but the convention voted him down THE DELEGATES TO POCATELLO Eight delegates were chosen for Pocatello Poca-tello and tho following names were in nomination J L Hill received 17 and Campbell 2H electing the latter Resolutions were adopted declaring for Colonel J W Ballantine of Alturas county for delegate to Minneapolis NOTES Third Party cry Thn office seeks the man Chairman O S Glenn Gus Keefers maiden speech Mr Gentleman Gen-tleman and chairmen second the move George King doesnt go much on instructions i instruc-tions to delegates as affecting the national platform Said a Third Party delegate to King of Shoshone You moneyed fellers and King set em up Delegate Hill of Sboshone says positively posi-tively that he is not a candidate for any state office on too Republican ticket Jack Campbell was beaten in caucus Monday Mon-day night as delegate but slipped in 1 through nomination from Dunn or Spring I Creek All Third Party delegates who were in town wore in full attendance at the Republican Repub-lican convention ana A Jackson Hash and Rails led them in great applause Fn c the Third Party delegate from Little Wood River I rhile out on recess got mixed up with some Democratio tanglefoot and worried his brother Alliance delegates The query among the Republicans is How did George B Bill lose when he was the Bellevue caucus nominee and Camp bell was not oven a member of the convention conven-tion Answer echoes I By defeating G B Hill the Logan delegation dele-gation leaves at homo a firstclass convention conven-tion leader It remains now for Bierbower to fling his flowing locks to the breeze and step to the front in his usual eloquence Sheehan of Broadford had his speech fairly well committed to memory but his gestures were not in time He was cheered by Nash Rails and other leading members of the third party who were present in full force J B Boyce of Soldier solemnly voted as a delegate at the Third Party convention Monday night and Tuesday morning was active in aiding the Republicans to beat the Shoshone nominee for chairman Boyce had Soldier credentials to both conventions con-ventions Munro McPherson and Glenn wore the only white shirts in the Third Party convention con-vention but Hash and Rails were dressed up just the same Oh yell I Harrington always wears a white shirt But none of them had on a tie like Chairman Hunter of the Republican convention But Hunter did well Dan Harrington made a speech in which he chastized Brother A Jackson Hash for declining to go to Boise as he Hash wasnt a candidate for any office Dan said he hoped no one who went to Boise would seek office The body then voted on state convention delegates and Harrington will stay at home as a result WES
