over until 3 p m and the militia bill was taken up ADJUTANTS SALARY The first discussion came on fixing the salary of the adjutant general and it was moved by four members to make i 1000 750 500 and 250 On Tolton inquiring what would be the duties of the office Pigman suggested that the fixing of the amount go over Varian suggested the amendments be laid on the table Pigman moved to lay them on the table and the motion was carried I A BOMBSHELL I Then Varian threw a veritable bombshell bomb-shell by calling attention to the fact that the motion carried the whole bill to I the table and calling for the regular order There were looks of blank astonishment as-tonishment on the faces of the members mem-bers in favor of the bill but there was no getting around the matter ANOTHER MEDICAL judiciary FROM THE COUNCIL The Council sent notification of the passage as amended of H B 64 the bill limiting the practice of attorneys before relatives On looking at the amendments i was seen that they had Changed the whole sense of the bill and were written in green instead of red ink 1 A communication just then came from the upper house asking for a return of the bill and the request re-quest was granted UTE REMOVAL The Council also sent notification of the passage of H J 11 14 protesting against the removal of the Colorado Utes also of the approval of the printing print-ing contract and contractors bond also of the passage of C B 46 providing provid-ing for the establishment of a school for the blind and also of the concurrence concur-rence in the House amendments in the House complained of Powers police and fire bill again got the right of way and was again postponed post-poned for twenty minutes The motion to postpone the branding and cattle inspecting bill was lost POLICE AND FIRE BILL There was further discussion on the bill and the whole thing was cut on bi the special order Powers police bill amended in and fire bill The was further particulars and passed unanimously I unani-mously without any discussion I Then the House took up the militia t bill and amended it in some particulars particu-lars When it was gone all over several sev-eral members raised a question of expense ex-pense Ivins said he was in favor of the bill if it would not interfere with the revenues Pigman explained the Pigan expense would be less than 3000 for the organization and
