Show A 0 U W GRAND LODGE CONSIDERABLE BUSINESS TRANSACTED TRAN-SACTED YESTERDAY The Election of Officers Will Take Place at Todays SessionA Musicale Musi-cale Given Last Xight The second day of the meeting of the grand lodge of the Utah Wyoming and Idaho A O U W was spent chiefly in routine work The number of members and officers reached eightyfive Ogden Boise and Cheyenne being well represented repre-sented as well as other cities in the jurisdiction of the grand lodge Mr Steel of Salmon City Ida took a stage ride of seventy miles In order to attend the convention con-vention A total membership of 2800 was reported of which more than half are citizens izens of Utah When a membership of 2000 is reached there will be a sufficient number to organize a grand lodge In this territory a consummation devoutly wished by Utonians Park City was decided I de-cided upon as the next place of meeting A minority advocated biennial meet ings but the measure was lost Some amendments to the constitution were adopted and the matter of organizing auxiliaries for the wives sisters and daughters of the members was discussed and strongly advocated the discussion ending with instructions to the fortyfive lodges under the jurisdiction of the grand lodge to proceed to the organization of the same Other plans for the furtherance further-ance of the object of the order were discussed dis-cussed Today the election of officers will take place and further amendments to the constitution will be considered A prominent member of the lodge said In I answer to the question What is the attitude at-titude of your order toward the Coxey I i army movement We do not consider either politics or religion in our order Both topics are barred out of our discussions I dis-cussions There may be Individual sympathizers sym-pathizers among us but we are a fraternal fra-ternal society whose chief object is to care for the families of deceased members mem-bers I |
