fra-ternal orders The amount of work done was small and most of the lodge meetings were of a routine character The holiday to some extent accounted for the dullness and the fact that the past few months were unusually busy had somethIng to do with it There is a fair amount of work in sight for the next few weeks I The Masons Will be especially busy until St Johns Day which onds the Masonic year A goodly number of novices will ba admitted and new officers have to be elected for the coming year before their presontyear ends Mount Moriah lodge met Monday evening even-ing and worked in the third degree This lodge also held a special meeting for work on Wednesday evening On both occasions occas-ions the attendance was very good and avery a-very pleasant and fraternal time was enjoyed en-joyed Argonta lodge met on Tuesday evening and worked in the entered apprentice ap-prentice degree All the blue lodges the chapter and the commandery will nominate officers for the ensuing year at the first meeting of each in December J 0 O F This order had a very quiet week and little of public interest transpired On Monday evening Jordan lodge held tits usual meeting and conferred the second degree on two candidates There was a good attendance and the degree staff did the work in very fine style Unity encampment en-campment met on Tuesday and transaoted the regular routino business On Wednesday Wednes-day Enterprise and Ridgley lodges both met and enjoyed very interesting sessions Visitors were present and were warmly welcomed and made to feel at home Very entertaining talks were given and views exchanged on different topics of interest to the order generally and to the lodges in particular Thursday being Thanksgiving day Utah lodge No1 did not meet Salt Lake and Fidelity lodges bad good meetings on Friday Fri-day evening In the former the third degree de-gree was conferred on one candidate Fidelity Fi-delity lodge had a very fair attendance and a truly fraternal time was had Naomi Robekah lodge met on Saturday afternoon Two candidates were admitted by card and two by initiation I Knights of Pjthias Calanthe lodge mot on Monday evening I in regular session Two candidates were balloted for and duly elected to membership member-ship The initiation will take place at the next meeting Tho officers for the term commencing Jan 1 1593 will be nominated nomin-ated and elected at the meeting tomorrow evening A change in the manner of nominating nom-inating has been made in all the subordinate subordin-ate lodges Now all nominations have to be made by ballot and the election is done in the same manner Nominations and elections take place the same evening which expedites business Myrtle lodge met on Tuesday evening There was no degree work and the meeting meet-ing was of a business character One application ap-plication for membership was received and will be acted on in due course Tho principal princi-pal business to come before the meeting next Tuesday will be the nomination and election of officers Rocky Mountain lodge had a very satisfactory satis-factory meeting on Thursday evening and notwithstanding the fact that it was Thanksgiving day the attendance was large Two candidates were balloted for and duly elected Quite a few have been elected and will appear for initiation at the first meeting of the lodge in December The chief business of tne evening the nominating and electing of officers was then proceeded with and resulted as follows fol-lows C C F Miller V C Guy Har bin M at A M J Sullivan prelate Sig Simons M of F Albert Harrison M of E Richard Bettor K of R and S W W Phillips The installation of these officers elect will take place on the first Thursday in January when they will assume their f duties and no doubt pilot the lodge along its course of usefulness and prosperity as ably as their predecessors have done Ivy Temple Pythian Sisters met last evening and had a very pleasant and profitable profit-able session Two candidates were initiated initi-ated into the mysteries of this branch of the order A 0 U W Temple lodge No 15 met on Monday evening and transacted the usual routine business The attendance was good The junior workman degree was conferred upon John S Higham and the workman degree upon Adam Lapin Mr H1 hum will bo entitled to the mysteries of the workman degree at the next meeting and tile junior degree will be cosferred upon John C Hogan and H J Player Temple lodge is forging ahead and keeping up its end in the race Salt Lake Valley lodge did not meet last week owing to Thanksgiving falling on Thursday their regular mooting night This lodge will have a big meeting next Thursday when somewhere about ten candidates can-didates are to be initiated Star of Bethlehem Miznah Lodge No 1 met on Monday evening The Eastern Star degree was conferred on three candidatesDr Hodges Miss Perkins and Miss Harrigan Tho degree de-gree work was done in very fine style and a very agreeable time was passed Arrangements Ar-rangements for the celebration of the first anniversary of the lodge to take place tomorrow to-morrow evening at the Temple of Honor hall have been completed A very nice programme has been prepared including vocal and instrumental music readings recitations etc by very clever people Supper will be served and a pleasant time is assured All members are Invited to attend at-tend and bring their friends Fons of M George The Sons of St George held their regular regu-lar meeting on Wednesday November 23 when the nomination of officers to be elected for the next six montbs took place with the following results For president W Gill Mills vicepresident J Nattress secretary William M Brown treasurers H Silverthorne and J Broadbent messengers mes-sengers Ben Sadler and J Broadbent assistant as-sistant secretary C A Brown A full attendance is requested by the officers of-ficers at the next meeting so tbat they may have a fair selection from all the members mem-bers of the lodge and start on their new duties with entire confidence working for the progress and success of the members Caledonian Hub The club Is in a flourishing condition and gaining now members right along Five applications to join were received at the last meeting The first Tuesday in December Decem-ber the election of officers will take placa and on the third Tuesday In the month an open meeting will be held and an effort will be made to surpass all previous entertainments entertain-ments of the kind Bed Men are still gaining in numbers and going to have another tribe the first of the year They have changed their wigwam from 267 South Main to the L 00 F hall on Market Mar-ket street and moot on Thursday evenings instead of Fridays Their bylaws havo been sent off for approval by the grand lodge and will soon be ready to distribute among the members The degree team in the near future will show the pale faces that are joining how they were made Red men and next Thursday evening will work the chief degree on four members |
