Show I I THE CITYS LAWS The License of the Ticket Brokers Increased to 8150 Sidewalk DistrictsThe Sewer Ordinance Suggestions Front the Health Officer Inspection of Provisions The city council met last evening to continue the third reading and revision of ordinances On motion of Hardy section 83 of the chapter of licenses was amended to read that ticket broilers shall hereafter pay an annual license of 150 instead of 50 as heretofore SIDEWALK DISTRICTS Section 13 on sidewalk districts was amenaed to read aj follows District No 19 Both sides of State street from South Temple to South Capital avenue No 20 Both sides of all public streets avenues and alloys in plat A Salt Luke city survey nr t heretofore included in any sidewalk district except State street from South Temple street north No 21 Both sides or all public streets avenues and alleys in plat C Salt Lake City survey I No 22Both sides of all public streets avenues and alleys in plat B Salt Lake City survey not heretofore mentioned in any sidewalk district No 23Both sides of all public streets alleys and avenues in plat F Salt Lake city survey not heretofore mentioned in any sidewalk ditric No 24 Both sides of all public streets avenues and alleys in plat D Salt Lake City survey No 25 both sides of First street from the cast line of State street to the east boundary of plat L Also both sides of Second street from east line of Ca on road to the east boundary of plat 1 N Also both of Ca nn road from State street to the north boundary of plat L No 27 Both sides of all public streets alleys and avenues in plat E except State street No 28 Both sides of all public streets avenues and alleys in plat JII THE 8ETVEB ORDINANCE Sections 1 2 and 3 of the sewer ordinance ordin-ance were placed in the chapter on the board of health The entire sewer system was placed under un-der the control of the superintendent of eewers Tho garbage ordinance was then taken up under a suggestion frbm Dr Beatty that section 14 be amended so as to have all garbage in district No1 removed at the expense of the city instead of removing only the garbage from places of business in that district The matter after some argument ar-gument was laid on the table indefinitely most THE HEALTH OFFICER The following communication frem Dr Beatty was received and laid on the table until the next regular meeting together with an ordinance which accompanied it To tho President and Members of the City Council jTespecWully recommend the passage of the ordinance regulating the construction of privy vaults herewith submitted It is a measure of extreme Importance as tho privy nuisance has too long been permitted to do its deadly work in this city It is to be desired that there shall be a general adoption of the dry earth closet which Is both Inexpensive and hygenlc and altogether al-together tbe best substitute possible where sewerage ife not available This consists the ordinary outbuilding substituting a movable box for the pit or vault and throwing a cupfull of dry dust or earth after each use This deodorizes de-odorizes and disinfects completely and the contents con-tents may be used without offense for a fertilizer fertil-izer The dry earth closet Is very widely used and In no other city that I know of is the vault building left unrestricted as in this city Respectfully Re-spectfully T B BEATTV Health Commissioner INSPECTOR OF PROVISIONS The duties of the inspector of provisions were fixed He is to obey all orders of the health commissioner and board of health and to carry out in detail the ordinance prohibiting the keeping or sale of unwholesome unwhole-some food and drink androgulatlng the sale of milk and other food products MISCELLANEOUS Section S3 of chaptor 22 on licenses was I then taken up and the license for real I estate dealers was cut down from 50 i to 2o Section 59 of same chapter was amended so that the license of drain layers was reduced from 525 to S10 After the foregoing business had been transacted tho reading of ordinances began be-gan at chapter 18 on gas and electric lights That chapter together with chapters 19 on irrigation 20 on jailer 21 on Liberty park 22 on licenses 23 on local assessments 24 on city marshal 25 on mayor 26 on misdemeanors misde-meanors 27 on nuisances and 23 on police were read the third time without additional amendment TIc council then adjourned until Monday night |
