Show Thc Last Sart Riten The funeral services over the remains of the late Mrs Eliza C Binder were held yesterday afternoon at the Fifteenth I Fif-teenth ward assembly hall the room being be-ing appropriately draped for the occasion occa-sion The presence of hundreds of i friends of the deceased from the city as well as from points Various parts of the territory bore witness to the l high esteem in which the deceased lady war universally Keld Bishop Elias Morris Mor-ris presided at the services and the I l 1 L 10 t 1 1it Mt1 ff7 < iJi speakers were John Watkins of Midway Mid-way William Spicer C W Penrose Mrs Sarah M Kimball George God dard Mrs Zina D Young lJ T Burton Bur-ton C R Savage A M Cannon H G Parks and Elias Morris respectively all of whom testified to the high worth of Mrs Binder and spoke consolingly to the bereaved relatives and friends The deceased was the daughter of James and Sarah Campe and was born in Hertford Herts England January 11 1833 She was married to William L Binder in London on December 25 1S53 and left her home to come to Utah in 1856 She was a member of the inh hardy band of pioneers which made the nevertobeforgotten march across the plains in the winter of that year pullIng pull-Ing handcarts through the snow She lived in Provo until 1854 when the family fam-ily removed to Salt Lake where she has since resided About twelve years ago she underwent an operation for the cure of cancer and while she was benefited bene-fited thereby she was troubled with that disease until it resulted in her death Mrs Binder was remarkable for her great purity of cbaracter her steadfast devotion to the cause she had espoused and her readiness to perform acts of kindness to those in distress throughout through-out her life She was a member of the Old Folks committee which twice a year provided entertainment to gladden the hearts of the elderly population of the territory and she was one of the foremost workers in that cause She leaves a sorrowing husband and niece who receive the sympathy of a wide circle of friends |
