Show V P X011LE AM M H WALKER Selected hy the Council for Police and Fire Commissioners The city council held what the members mem-bers were pleased to call a secret caucus last night at the close of the regular session for the purpose of balloting bal-loting upon the names of the several gentlemen suggested for members of gentemen the police and fire commission As is polce usually the case there was a partial understanding to the effect that the caucus nominees should be the choice of the council but at Tuesrlay nights meeting there will be some bolters and the slate which now bears the name of W P Noble and M H Walker may be smashed The friends of O J Salisbury will push him well up in the front and they feel confident of placing his name in the niche now occupied by that of Mr Walker Noble received seven votes in the caucus and one of his strongest friends was absent so that he is reasonably sure of eight votes if not more Mr Walker received but five out of the twelve caucus votes the others being scattering scatter-ing and divided among Salisbury Frank Kimball A 11 Grant and the I other Republican nominees I The two strong teams of rhe night were Francis Armstrong and O J Salisbury and W P Noble and M H Walker As the vote was sure on Nobe one of the Democrats the friends of Armstrong and Salisbury will now turn their attention to the election of the later in open council |
