Show A G O 1 Pow Wow The Republican Workingmens club held a meeting last night at the G A R hall to which a number of the elect had been invited accompanied by their sweethearts and wives None but known Republicans were allowed to enter en-ter the holy sanctum two burly fellows fel-lows having been posted at the entrance en-trance to receive the necessary password pass-word etc A Herald man however by dint of perseverance and two cigars managed to get inside where he found a goodly number present to hear and i see the show Adam M Paul the president pres-ident of the club started the ball aroll I ing by eulogizing the club and its efficient effi-cient body of workers The speakers were Judge Goodwin Boman Cannon I and J L Morris John Morgan was on i the programme but that gentleman j I I failed to materialize The musical feature fea-ture of the powwow was the only redeeming re-deeming feature of the evening Those participating were Miss Paul T C I Harper John James and the Queen City colored quartette After the pro I gramme had been rendered some one In the audience arose and getting the eye I and ear of the chairman introduced the following remarkable resolution which I strange to say was adopted with a hoopla and a mighty yell Here it is as near as The Herald man could get iUR Resolved That as citizens of Salt Lake interested in the welfare of Utah we denounce the cowardly and contemptible con-temptible course of the Democratic party in refusing statehood to Utah in violation of the promises made to the people by the party in convention on the stump and in their papers After an announcement of a ball to be given by the club on the 15th of April the meeting adjourned |
