Show THE WYOMING DIVISION A Current Report That i is to Be RedlMtrictcd The report that the Wyoming division divi-sion is to be redistricted and the report re-port that a new round house is to be built in Laramie are railroad rumors that are entirely at variance with each other I is reported however that the Wyoming division is to be redistricted redis-tricted and that train crews will run j from Cheyenne to Rawlins or Fort Steele This it is said has been the quiet plan of the receivers in case The new schedule was put into effect By this plan says the Boomerang they would make an immense saving pn tl mileage and instead of the men making mak-ing 100 miles between Laramie and Cheyenne they would get but fifty seven miles A railroad man who heard the rumor today said he did not believe it would be put in force yet although he had heard that such action was contemplated contem-plated in case the new schedule had been put into effect In order to do this there would have to be changes made in the motive power They could haul immense trains from Cheyenne to Rawlins with these big engines hut it is doubtful whether the track on the sixth district would hold the 1600 engines The scheme would be a big saving to the road but I remember five or six years ago when the passenger passen-ger trains were run in that way and engines went through from Cheyenne to Rawlins the plan was not consIdered consid-ered a success But they were short of power in those days which is not the case now I do not think a new round house will be started in Laramie Lara-mie until after the wage question is settled Possible Change In Divisions Evanston is beginning to shake over a rumor that the present managers of the Union Pacific are about to change the eastern end of the western division divis-ion from Evanston to Granger malting malt-ing the next division says the Evanston Evans-ton Herald That they will concentrate the railway shops of Green River and Evanston at Granger and thus leave I those two towns to flounder like astray a-stray fly in the consomme until death bring relief to our weary and tortured tor-tured souls It is said that Messrs Bancroft Mal loy and Haves have been buying land n in and around Granger making surveys sur-veys and laying out town lots for a city This may or may not be true time will tell In one respect Granger would be a handy place for shops it being the eastern terminus of the Oregon Ore-gon Short Line A Union Pacific Change The local office of the Union Pacific yesterday received a circular announcing announc-ing the appointment of B H Payne to the office of assistant general passenger I pas-senger agent of the company The change will go into effect on March 1 and the new officials headquarters are to be in Omaha Mr Payne is at present pre-sent assistant general passenger and I ticket agent of the Missouri Pacific Holiday News j The ticket offices of the Union Pacific Paci-fic will today be open only between the hours of 9 a m and 12 m and 6 p m on account of the national holiday Raiiiray Notes The ISO feet tunnel on the Florence Cripple Creek railroad has been bored through The tunnel is 11 miles from Florence vin what is called eight mile canyon The Denver South Park road in Colorado is hopelessly blocked by snow While high winds prevail on that line even a rotary snow plow is not much avail as the cuts fill up again in short order i The Gulf railway people do not contemplate con-template doing more about shops at Trinidad than to build a fivestall round house They say they own a big interest in the Denver shops and they are plenty good enough for them The Midland Terminal brought in two more cerloads of laborers yesterday yester-day to push work ther President Calhoun will have the road into Cripple Crip-ple Creek and the entire system grid ironed with tracks before the other people can reach there Assistant Superintendant Bray of the railway mail service at Chicago has notified the general superintend ant of the Gulf Jine that he must get mail over the road six times a week between Cheyenne and Orin Junction That means resumption of former train service Mr Calhoun of the Santa Fe intimates 111 timates that the S P will get all the fun they want in the rate war they have brought about The former < has noInterest to pay just now and need e t t |
