Show THE COUNTY COURT BUSINESS DISPOSED OF AT THE MEETING YESTERDAY The Proposition to Donate the Oft Court House Grounds to tin Board of Education Consideretl Appropriatioiis Made The county court met yesterday with the school trustees of various county districts and discussed the advisability and propriety of donating the old courthouse court-house grounds at the corner of Second South and Second West streets to the board of education of Salt Lake city The meeting was opened by Colonel Nelson who advocated the proposition ot having ithe court devote the above named grounds to an organized high school district that would build and 1 maintain a suitable building for the advancement of the graduating pupils gaduating pupis of the graded schools of the county Another proposition was put before bfore Ithe meeting which was as follows That the county court donate those grounds to the school trustees of this county and the third proposition ad prposiion I vanc I by Mr WeSterfield was that the I grounds be donated to the city and county who would select a board of control to govern the building and maintenance of the school 5hoo1 Judge Blair then arose and said that inasmuch as the old court house sounds belonged rightfully to the peo ple and taxpayers of Salt Lake county I I the count county court had no power to do nate the same whereupon Selectman Morris drew up the following resolution which V Was unanimously adopted Kesolved That the question of the power of the county court to transfer the property in question to the board of education of Salt Lake city for the purpose of erecting thereon a high school for ithe advancement of the pupils of the various graded schools o f the county be referred to the county attorney associated with the attorney of the board of education for a report at the meeting of ths court to be held m the county court rooms Wednesday November 21 The county court then resumed the business laid over from the meeting of the day
