Show CONGRESS OF CONCILIATION A Very Intcrcntiiigr Session Clones the Meeting Chicago Nov HThe congress of conciliation and arbitration was presided pre-sided over today by Miss Jane Adams who made a bright address Joseph D AVaeks read a paper on the Relation Rela-tion Between the tEmployer and the Employees in Manufacturing Affairs Sliding Scale was discussed by 11 1 Garland the president of the Amalgamated Amal-gamated Association of Iron and Steel Workers At the evening session Mr J G McCarthy Mc-Carthy president of the Builders Exchange Ex-change presided The first speaker of the evening was William H Gay ward secretary of tne National Association Asso-ciation of Builders and he was followed fol-lowed by T J McGuire secretary of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners They spoke Upon Relation Rela-tion Between Employer and Employee in the Building Trades This was followed by a discussion by Wiljiam Grace and William H Alsip of Chicago The last speaker of the evening was Samuel Gompers president of the American Federation of Labor The congress adjourned at the conclusion con-clusion of the evening session after passing a resolution that it would be a good idea to continue at some future time the consideration of arbitration between labor and capital |
