Show MINING IN IDAHOAn IDAHO-An English Syndicate Investigating Investigat-ing Property Report of An Important Discovery Prospects In the Wood River Country Were Never Better BOISE CITY Ida Feb 29lSpcclal Correspondence Corre-spondence to THE HERALDAnother rich strike is reported in the Phillips Sullivan I mine at Silver City The owners have been running a crosscut tunnel for some time It is now in 650 feet has cut the vein and run through it fourteen feet so far without encountering i en-countering the hanging wall The strike is I made fully one hundred feet Lolow the oldI I workings and the oro will run high in gold Samples are being assayed now but the result will not be made public It is said to be immensely im-mensely rich however and will be second to none in that respoct in that entire district Messrs Phillips and Sullivan have received flattering offers to sell their property even before be-fore it was fully developed but they were sure that there was more rich ore in it than was insight In-sight at that time and this last strike shows how wise they have been in not putting the property on the market Work on the Blaino tunnel goes on at the rate of eight feet per day some difficulty has been experienced in keeping tho waste rock and dirt away from the air drills and were it not for the double track system and the extra large cars used it would be almost impossible to proceed with the work on this account ENGLISH INVESTORS J J Smith a mining expert arrived In this city yesterday from Milwaukee He represents repre-sents a powerful English syndicate and his mission is to expert a number of mines in this immediate vicinity report his opinion to the members of the syndicate and if favorable it is likely they will muke some heavy purchases The two districts which interest him most are the Neal and Shaws Mountain He left this morning in company with C S Brown to visit the latter A miner named Holmes claims he has made a rich strike in Shaws mountain and if so Mr Smith may for the time give that district dis-trict his attention reserving tho inspetion of the Neal for some future time Holmes says he struck a vein of ore which prospects over SiLO I per ton with indications ot richer stuH further fur-ther in An assay of the samples brought to this city verifIed his storfl Holmes Is conlldent his discovery is only a starter to what will prove a bonanza for that district and should the English syndicate interest themselves in it considerable money will be spent in improvements improve-ments and this city will receive a brisk trade therefrom A number of our leading citizens are interested In this district prominent among them being John Early Esq John Lemp one of our city council Charles F Baxter J A OFarrell Mayor Pinney and others Two brothers named Hardwick made AN IMPORTANT DISCOVERY NEAR OXFORD a few weeks ago While hunting they found eroppings of silverbearing ore which further fur-ther investigation craved to come from a large and welldefined ledge The ore runs about J95 in silver and a large percentage of lead and copper Ihe extensions to this mine have been located as have a number of other claims near it Later reports claim the finding of 2125 ore in the vein discovered by the Hard wick brothers THE OUTLOOK IN THE WOOD RIVER COUNTRY was never better The sale of the Minnie Moore and Relief mines at Bradford is all but consummated and the change of ovndrship will give steady employment to 3uO men The Que not n-ot Ihe Hills will resume operations with the Minnie Moore and Relief The Red Elephant is showing up richer crs every day It is making such a splendid showing the owners are confident it will resume the paying of dividends in a short while ITie Buttercup But-tercup company have spent nearly 00000 on their property lately but the mine is developing develop-ing so nicely they will be paid with good interest inter-est for all the impuovements during the coming summer The War Dance Nay Aug Nettle Argent Red Cloud Wolf Ton Arctic and Antarctic Ant-arctic the North Star group and others are doing splendidly and employing a largo number num-ber of men The Standard companys property prop-erty the Nay Aug is leased until May 1st the owners will take charge on that date The Baltimore and Victoria groups are to be sold soon to an eastern company The Red Wing is soon to be started giving employment to over one hundred men Camas No 1 Tiptop Deadwood Gold Belt Camas No2 Abbey and a number of other properties which have been doing little or nothing for some time past will be told soon or resume active operations with a full force each The owners of the Gold Belt have paid oil all the judgments against that property which aggregatea thousands of dollars and have a splendid offer to sell Owners and leasers are alike confident a prosperous season and will continue operations I opera-tions whether the silver bill passes or not |
