| Show AMUSEMENTS HERRMANNS VAUDEVILLES gave their excellent show at the theatre again last evening The engagement ends tonlgnt THE NEALLY STEVENS RECITAL The Ladies Musical society have engaged en-gaged Miss Neally Stevens for their recital re-cital tomorrow evening in the Presbyterian church An attractive programme has been prepared and Miss Stevens well known abilities added to the popularity of the Ladies Musical organization should give a rare evenings enjoyment and draw a crowded house Miss Stevens will be assisted by Miss Hawley Herr Theo Simons and Mr Grant Hampton CARLETON Fifteen years ago W T Carleton firstr appeared in this city and as the principal baritone of the Hess opera company cap tured the good opinion of all music lovers At that time he sang in the grand operas and continued to do so for some years until un-til the popularity of light opera convinced Mr Carleton that the time had cometo como make a change in tho field of opera His change from tae grand opera to the lighter school is humorous in the suddenness of the operation On Saturday night he sang nifht the title role in Rossinis grand work William Tell and on the following Mon day appeared as Valentine in Olivette Valentne Olvette Since he adopted the comic opera stage he has had no cause regret the step in a financial nancial sense for as artist and manager his career has been singularly sucqessful VV T Carleton and his excellent organization return here next Monday after an absence of three years and judg ing mini the very complimentary reports of his company which precede them there tncre can be no doubt that the threo operas to be given will bean example of good sing ing intelligent stage oiled with a liberality liber-ality in the question of scenery and costumes cos-tumes which bas always characterized the Carleton productions heretofore The company contains some names now to Salt Lake city but rumor is generous in describing de-scribing these debutantes as worthy of our best consideration The repertoire is arranged ar-ranged as follows Monday and Wednes day matinee The Brigands with entirely I en-tirely new scenery and costumes Tues day tbe ever welcome Erminie and I Wednesday evening The Mikado best of all Gilbert Sullivans works The matinee will be given at popular prices The sale of seats commences on Satur day and indications point to a great financial finan-cial and artistic success |
