Show Utahs Iron Mountains Mr John L Ferris sends the following to THE HEUALD from Bellevue Allow me a short drive on my Faber to say that the southern part of Utah is now looking forward to her mining interests with some hope of an upheaval in mining developments that has long since been desired sired I is a well known fact that Iron county has more ore to the square foot than any other county in Utah in iron silver and lead and that waiting patiently for the last thirty years has not diminished the faith of the people in the final outcome of this southern country The four hundred million tons of iron of good quality as an ore output for Iron county in the many deposits known is now likely to be taken hold of by a California company of capitalists through the exer tious of Mr Thomas Taylor of Cedar city who has long since been driving the rudder bands onthe ship that will bring business into Iron county to stay I hear that THE SALE WAS MADE for 000 and that all the coal mines of the Kanarra range have been lately sold to capitalists Those vast coal beds are easy of access and a railroad can be built to them I y a comparatively snlalt expense which will enhance their value to any company wishing to sieze this vast field of fuel in the reduction of the ores in Iron county iron silver lead and copper In case the Utah Central railroad extends its road south to Desert Spriugsas it is believed hey will do and a branch line run to Iron City and Kanarra it will open up a country beyond the expectation and belief of our own Southern people Doubtless the goo work will go on until los Angeles and Salt Lake will have AX OPEX WAT BY HAIL which will bring this part of Utah in com nunication with the Pacific coast and the interchange of the commodities of trade of the Golden Gate with the mineral products of our southern mountains will result The Bull valley range will then come in for a share of the mining rush and in easy reach of the forthcoming road Some people laugh at the Bull valley mountains but they sit in the shade and never go to see where the eagle makes his nest Ve give them all the credit that they deserve de-serve when we call them laughing sluggards slug-gards I is easy to laugh and especially to parties who are always holding up the antipodes of hope and energy and spinning drivel and chewing wampum witnout request re-quest This southern country will fill the bill predicted by the late Brigham Young That when this country is rightly understood under-stood and its resources brought into development communication de-velopment and it thrown will become open to the outside head I and not the tail of this intermountain country1 Let the good work go on and the facts be shown up |
