Show Judgment Affirmed Nsw YORK June lSThe Supreme t Court today affirmed the conviction I of John ONeil one of the boodle aldermen alder-men John is in Sing Sing for accepting accept-ing a bribe to vote for the Broadway Railroad franchise When Judge Shepperd resumed his seat on the bencl in response to the notice that the jury had agreed upon a verdict only couple of attorneys were present the others never expecting a verdict so soon A very few people were in the court room When the verdict was read the defendants seemed for a mom ant stunned but soon recovered composure A motion for a new trial was at once entered by the defense Judge Shepperd said he would hear the arguments at some future time and notwithstanding the protest of defendants defend-ants counsel declined to admit either McDonald orMcGarigle to bail The decision of this point fell with crushing effect upon the defendants their counsel coun-sel and friends The convicted men j were taken to the county jail I J |
