Show A MISSING SACK OF COIN Twenty five Hundred Dollars Stolen From the Express Co neatness deft A robbery > which for ness and general mysteriousness exceeds ex-ceeds anything of the kind ever known in this region and which has thus far puzzled detectives and every one else who have looked into the caseoccurred on the Pacific Express Companys route about three weeks ago Any intelligence intelli-gence concerning the affair has been kept quiet in the hope that some clue would be lighted on but up to this time every one seems to be as much in the dark as he was five minutes after the robbery was discovered IOn I-On the 13th of December the Deseret National received an order from the First National Bankof Dillon Montana for 2500 On the same day that amount of gold coin enclosed in the usual canvas sack duly sealed and with a tag attached bearing the address First National Bank Dillon Montana Mon-tana the value of the contents also bing written upon it was forwarded per the Pacific Express Company which duly receipted to the bank for the jack aee The sack of coin reached Ogden all safe and the Utah Central messenger mes-senger took his receipt for it in the usual manner Thereat disappeared as suddenly as though the earth under it had opened and swal Ifiwed it up The first intelligence that it was missing came from the Express Company who informed the Deseret National that the way bills had reached Dillon with the word short marked opposite the 2500 item The bank produced receipt and the Express Company had no alternative al-ternative but to make the amount good and it was promptly forwarded to thH Dillon Bank On the same day the First National oft Ogden had received an order for 2500 from the First National of Dillon and this package went through and was received in due time No one has yet been found to afford the slightest clue to the missing packiige |
