Show teBil I Big Cattle Companys Failure GALVESTON January 2An Austin special to the News says The Dolores Land Cattle Company of Texas which was chartered during last year with a capital of 2000000 made an assignment here yesterday The company com-pany as chartered was composed of W S Carether and Geo A Searight with 1000 shares each Recently however Mr Carether disposed of his interest to other members of the company com-pany In Duns register of January 1886 Mr Geo A Searights live stock interestsat Cheyenne are rated at over 750000 and the Searight Cattle Com pauys interests also in Wyoming afr over 1000000 It is understood however how-ever that Mr Searight has disposed of his Wyoming interests but not without considerable shrinkage The papers tf assignment as filed here and signed by Messrs Searight and A F Robbins show in round figures liabilities of 500 000 The principal creditors are John F Coal of Omaha 30000 John A Fletcher of Chicago 50OOO each secured by first mortgages j George A Searight 90000 without security the Texas National Bank of San Antonio 10000 security fifty shares of stock State National Bank of Austin 4 400 with Mr Sea right endorser and sundry holders of120 first mortgage percent coupon bonds of the company mounting to about 120000 sold in tin an market secured by real and per il property of the company The company also owe about 13000 in attorneys fees The assets it is stated foot up about 510000 The assignment creates great surprise and regret on account of the high standing of the persons concerned in the enterprise The assets however compared with the liabilities indicate a temporary embarrassment which it is hoped will be eventually overcome without with-out much loss if any to the creditors |
