Show LAST EVENINGS BLAZE The Boca Brewery Warehouse Burned Down The alarm of fire at about 1030 last evening was caused by the burning of the large frame building situated at 254 S Third West Street which some years I since was erected as a warehouse forth for-th Boca Brewing Company It is some years however since it was used for the purpose for which it was erected and although al-though it has served several other purposes pur-poses since that time was entirely unoccupied un-occupied when the fire was discovered last evening The first person to discover dis-cover the blaze was Mr Fullmer who lives near by and he ran to the nearest telephone and gave the alarm The building being constructed con-structed entirely of wood the fire made quick headway and before the alarm had reached the Fire Hall the structure was a mass of flames The firemen made good time to the scene and soon had a couple of streams on the blaze It was hopeless however to expect to save oven a portion of the warehouse and owing to the close Itfca tion of a cottage near byless than a lIstantthey turned their attention atten-tion to it it was not thought at onetime one-time that even that would be saved The eaves had already caught when a stream was brought to play upon the fire but the cottage was Quickly put in safety although al-though not without hard work There was some bottling machinery in the warehouse and this is doubtless a total loss Chief Ottinger esFmated the total loss warehouse and machinery at not more than 1500 and tho damage to the cottage was merely nominal being confined to the scorched eaves besides slight damage to the furniture all of which was saved There is no clue as to the origin as usual and it can only be accounted for as the accidental work of tramps or the premeditated effort of an incendiary |
