Show That Peruvian Matter Ii WASHINGTON November 13 The facts as reported to the Department Depart-ment by United States Minister Buck are as follows The building eized was the property of the Areqpippa Railroai Company the agent for the company being also the United States ccnsular agent and a room in the structure struc-ture was occupied as the consulate The Peruvian government took possession posses-sion of the building in the absence of the consular agent and held it for a few days but finally turned it over to the agent Instructions from Lima alleges that the building had been occupid solely for protection The consular records were not disturbed As the action appeared to be a technical discourtesy dis-courtesy towards us an apology was requested but refused by the Peruvian government on the ground that it Jiacl done nothing for which to apologize Arequippa Railroad property was seized by the government of Peru sometime some-time ago but held that by subsequent arrangements with the bond holders the propertyhas since been exempted The State departmentis waiting for further details before proc8J din further but as already stated tIci pates no further trouble |
