| Show An Old Mormon Rel eWe e-We will show at the coming Exposition Exposi-tion an old hand press that deserves to be highly prized for the part it has borne in enlightening the public It was used in Nauvoo Ills in 1845 and during the Mormoi riots at that town it was employed in printing a paper opposed to the polygamous element When these riots broKe out the office in which this press was used was entirely f en-tirely destroyed by the adherents of Joseph Smith The press was broken up with a sledge hammer and the mutilated mu-tilated fragments were thrown into the river Af r laying at the bottom of the stream for two years it was fished out repaired and sod It then entered upon anew a-new career of usefulness The Redfield Bros obtained it and took it to Wau paca Wis where they printed the Waupaca Spirit on it in 1855 It was afterward us d in printing the New London Times John A Ogden pub usher Clark County Enterprise Mr Parbaurst Clintonville Herald Rat cliffe di Waite Antigo Republican Rat chIle Moses from whence we obtained it nearly three years ago The old press has been repaired and put in presentable pre-sentable shape and all who will call at our exhibit will have an opportunity of comparing it with our magainc lit Washington hand pressesPrinters Album |
