Show Signal Service Examination WASHINGTON October 19 Second Comptroller Maynard and Third Aud itor Williams have just concluded1 a critical examination of the accounts of the Signal Service from September 1st 1SSO to July 1st 1886 The expenditures expendi-tures during that period aggregated 865333 and of this the accounting officers have disallowed and suspended it amounting to 1841669 The disbursements dis-bursements were made by Lieutenant Robert Craig Fourth Artillery Capt inV in-V Miles Fifth Artillery F B Jones Assistant Quartermaster General who consecutively had the office of disbursing disburs-ing on cer during the period mentioned The expenditures allowed as unauthorized unau-thorized by law were principally for telegraphing purchase of supplies and for foreign services r t a |
