Show Suggested Subsidy Washington 2A resolution was introduced in-troduced in tbe House yesterday by Representative Re-presentative Finley of Florida reciting that if the multiplication and enlargement I enlarge-ment of foreign markets for the surplus I productions of the United States was essential es-sential to the general prosperity of the country the committee on naval affairs be instructed to inquire and report as to the practicability of constructing an iron or steel ocean steamer for commercial purposes and ol granting government aid to the extent of giving them a fair and just compensation for carry ing mails to and from foreign countries on condition condi-tion that they shall be built under the direction of the secretary of the navy atd be built and owned exclusively by American citizens and transferred to the government st reasonable price whenever when-ever needed as ships of war Tbe resolution reso-lution was referred to the navy affaire committee which considered it this morning and agreed to report as a substitute sub-stitute a resolution asking leave for a subcommittee to set during the recess of Congress and enquire into the subject matters contained in the original resolutions resolu-tions a |
