Show IIAFB Has Helicopter, Crew For Rescue Work Hill Air Force Base has a trained rescue and paramedic unit on standby to be used for search and rescue missions within a radius of 200 miles. "WE ARE ready and want to be used," said Air Force Maj. Richard Kennard of Detachment De-tachment 4, the paramedic unit stationed at this northern Utah air base. He noted that helicopter service is available to local authorities on short notice. "WE HAVE agreements with local sheriff departments depart-ments which will enable us to get airborne for rescue and disaster assistance within minutes, he said. "In past years, helicopter assistance was often delayed several hours because of red tape in securing clearance for such missions." He said Detachment 4 of the 41st Rescue and Weather Reconnaissance Wing, now has four twin-engine Huey helicopters which gives the base "much more flexability." |
