Show Cook and Gougli SALT LAKE CITY May 31 1894 Editors Herald A lively interest has been created in the city by and concerning two recent visitors Messra Cook and Gough It may be conceded at once that they are both great men each great in something or other A man may be great in one or many things But no man is great in all things Herein great men are great hum bugsin some things they are as small aa other people much smaller than many other people Gough is a great orator great in hIs dramatic vigor and intensity or I might say great in delivery But he is an ex j tremst He a3kiio7rJecg s that he cannot be what ij kuown asa as-a moderate man He must he either a teetotaller or a drunkard There is no place for him between or course it is better every way that he should be the former than the latter and it is to his credit that he chose to be the former and has stuck to his choice so well As to Mormonism he knows very little if anything about itJ and consequently con-sequently his views and opinions concerning it are valueless He is small in that regard and the opinions he so unwisely expressed upon that subject manifested his littleness which few would have ku3 wii had he been able to control his tongue with greater prudence Cook is also a man of great force 1 as a public speaker He is great Jn selfassertion in presumption in aggressiveness He is a great domiceerer great bigot a great bully But in candor in the calm I careful judicial spirit in the ins genuousnees of the genuine seeker after truth he is pitifully small Hence his opinions of Mormonism amount to nothing at all They are not worth serious consideration They rrn utierly unworthy of record re-cord UTAH i |
