Mark Garn than singled to center scoring Walker. B In the second inning the Vikes exploded for six more runs. The parade started with a Jim Tingey walk. Pat Fieglesen then singled putting put-ting men on first and third. Court Wiikins singled up the middle drove in one run. Steve Neilsen then doubled to drive in another run, then Walker singled to knock in two more Vike tallies. GARN THEN worked Brave pitcher Steve Hilton for a walk, Brian Bown reached first on an error which also allowed another run to come across home plate. The final run of the inning came when Mark Lalli hit into a fielders choice. Viewmont kept up their relentless attack in the third driving in three more runs. Steve and Buzz Neilsen both drew walks and advanced a base on a Bountiful error. Garn then doubled the two runs home. Garn later scored on Bown's single to right. THE VIKES scored one more run in the fourth when John Madson singled home Gill Hodges, Hodges had singled and stolen a base. The final two Viking runs came on a couple of walks and some costly throwing errors by the Braves. Bountifuls only bright spot came in the fifth inning when junior third baseman Scou Irwin hit a bases empty home run to left field. All in all the Viewmont bats connected for 12 hits throughout the game while the Bountiful bats could only manage four hits. COURT Wiikins got credit for the win working the first four innings. Court gave up three hits and struck out six in his pitching effort. Mark Garn came on in relief and did an outstanding job striking out eight batters in the three innings he threw. Baseball is a funny game and anything can happen, last Tuesday everything happened wrong for the Bountiful team, next time they play the Vikes things might change, dw |
