A Centerville Jr. High School student won first place in an area competition in the Utah State Spelling Bee Program. Fourteen-year-old Jeff Barlow, an 8th grade student, won on the word "homage." It took place March 30 and was sponsored by the Deseret News, Utah Education Educa-tion Association, State PRA and the Utah State Board of Education. Eight-year-old Alan Richins, son of Karl and Sandra Richins, has a new cast on his arm. He broke it while playing the game "Twister" when a 12-year-old girl fell on top of him. He is in the second grade class of Mrs. Bradley at Centerville Elementary, so all the students in his class had fun autographing his cast. Musically talented Keith Gold, son of Clara and Don Gold, played a piano solo last week in the Davis County School District's second Cornucopia Cor-nucopia Concert in the Davis High School auditorium.
