' A FiriisiiiriG TOUCHES The "King and I" orchestra under the able direction of Allen Chatelain has joined the cast for rehearsals in the Regional Center. The score for the show is quite intricate with many unconventional mystic sounds and oriental rhythms. THE "Uncle Tom's Cabin" sequence featuring the "King and I" dancers and chorus Is especially challenging. Beth Lawrence, the director of the production, reports that this particular scene has come together beautifully and will be one of the many entertaining entertain-ing highlights of the show. Costumer Marge Clayton reports that the cast is completely costumed and ready for tonight's final dress rehearsal prior to tomorrow evening's opening performance. perfor-mance. The show will continue con-tinue through Saturday at the Regional Center. THOSE ATTENDING should be seated by 7:30 p.m. for the welcoming remarks from Pres. Robert Dewey of the Bountiful Utah East Stake Presidency and for a delightful delight-ful bit of pre-show entertainment entertain-ment featuring children from the Bountiful East Stake. The "King and I" orchestra and Music Director Allen Chatelain put the finishing touches to the score in preparation for Thursday night's opening performance. Grace Henderson, assisted by Luann Gillette, staged and directed the children in their songs and dances. Gordon Johnson joins the children for one number featuring the song "Swinging on a Star." The overture for the "King and I" will commence immediately following the pre-show entertainers. ' THE REGIONAL Center, formerly the Valley Music Hall, is located in North Salt Lake just off the Woods Cross 1-15 exit. The "King and I" will be presented three evenings, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Satur-day, Nov. 15, 16 and 17 at 7; 30 p.m. THE SHOW was produced, directed and cast by people residing in the Bountiful Utah East Stake. The scope of the project however, makes it a community activity and it is being presented as a choice opportunity for all families in the area to enjoy an evening of fine entertainment. Contributions of $2 for singles and $8 for families are being requested. The show will not be presented in the "round" and seating will be limited to about 1, 200 for each performance. |
