Show Mary F. Call DUP The Mary Flint Call Camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers met last Friday at the home of Mrs. Alice Barlow with Mrs. Catherine White assisting hostess. MRS. WILDA Bluemell greeted the group and conducted con-ducted the meeting. The invocation in-vocation and blessing on the N food was given by Mrs. Carol Hoskell. The flag salute was led by Mrs. Clara Bunting. LUNCHEON was served to nine members and one special guest, Mrs. Nell Haley. Following luncheon the inspirational in-spirational feature for the day was given by Mrs. White. She read an original poem "Thank You God for Freedom," written by Bertha Muir. ANNOUNCEMENTS concerning con-cerning the coming events were made by Mrs. Bluemell. The South Center convention conven-tion will be held on April 4, 1977 in the South Davis County Library building (downstairs) at 10:30 a.m. DELEGATES CHOSEN to attend are Mrs. Bluemell, Mrs. Shirley Larsen and Mrs. Colleen Hales. A light luncheon will be served at noon. The State D.U.P. annual convention will be held at the Hotel Utah on April 2, 1977. The South Center chorus will sing at this convention. MRS. HALES is a member of the group and she has agreed to practice with them and represent the local camp at the convention. Each member present gave fifty cents to help pay for a memorial for Kate B. Carter. The memorial will be a bust made of her by the famous Utah sculptor, Avard Fairbanks. Fair-banks. MRS. CAROL Haskell presented the lesson for the day which was The Life of Kate Carter. Greeting cards were sent to Gertrude Toone who is ill at her daughter's home in Honolulu, Annie Carr, who has been ill and a sympathy card to Mrs. Muir because of the death of her sister-in-law, Margaret Ledingham. THE MEETING adjourned until Friday, April 8 at the home of Mrs. Muir with Mrs. Grace Orten and Mrs. Ruth Scoville assisting hostesses. blm |
