Show cgion One Still Unsolved By DAVE WIGHAM BOUNTIFUL - With the region race in a four way tie, Bonneville, Bountiful, Layton and Roy the only thing left to decide in Region One is which order these four teams will finish. THE TOP club from the region gets an automatic berth into the state quarterfinals quarter-finals and the next three get playoff berths to qualify for the quarter-finals. These four clubs are two full games ahead of the rest, with three to play so it's almost al-most safe to say these four will be fighting it out for the order of finish and playoff berths. TWO BIG games are on tap in the next two weeks. This week Bonneville is at Roy and then next week Layton is at Bountiful. If the league ends in a two-way tie then the champion will be decided by the result of the head-to-head battle between those two clubs. For example if Bonneville and Bountiful tie then the Lakers would be number one because they beat the Braves. If Roy and Layton tie then the Royals would win. OF THE four clubs Bonneville has the worst schedule left to play, they now face Roy, Clearfield and Viewmont. Layton and Bountiful Boun-tiful must face each other plus Sky View and Weber while the Roy Club has Bonneville Bon-neville then Viewmont and Clearfield. Word from Bonneville is that they aren't too concerned with Roy but are worried about Clearfield. THIS WEEK'S Bonneville and Roy game could go a long way in determining the outcome. out-come. If Roy wins then the Bountiful and Layton matchup takes on a different appearance. If that be the case then Bountiful would go into the game knowing they could win the league title. If Bonneville wins then the Braves would have to hope for another team to knock off , Bonnevi 1 le f or them to wi n the title. - ' . '- "v---v.. If Roy wins then Layton would have to hope for another team to knock off the Royals for them to win. CLEARFIELD and Viewmont View-mont come into this picture as possible spoilers. The Falcons Fal-cons and Vikes have good competitive clubs and could pull off the upset. Anyway after the next two weeks after the four top clubs have played each other and the dust has settled then the picture will be clearer. OVER IN Region Four things are a little easier to figure out. Davis and Logan ' are on top with 4-0 marks and heading for their confrontation confronta-tion next Thursday under the lights at Davis, the winner of that will more than likely win the league. Ben Lomond figures into the picture though as they have only one loss and play both the top two teams in the next few weeks. The Scots could win it all with a couple of wins. Woods Cross is still in the race although a win this week over Davis would be a must. THEN BOX Elder has come on strong to put up a fight but the Bees still have Ogden on their slate. Only the top three clubs have any shot at the state tournament and it looks like Davis, Logan and Ben Lomond have the best shot with Woods Cross and Box Elder outside chances. |
