He was also president of a retail organization or-ganization in Palo Alto, Calif. HIS CHURCH activities have included Regional Representative, president of the Scottish Mission, member of the Priesthood Missionary Committee, president of the Palo Alto Stake for 12 years, high councilor and bishop's counselor. After returning from Scotland he served three years as assistant to the president of Brigham Young University. ELDER HAIGHT was born in Oakley, Idaho, a son of Hector C. and Clara Tuttle Haight. After attending Oakley High School and Albion Al-bion State Normal School in Idaho, Elder Haight finished his schooling at Utah State University in Logan. During World War II he served as a commander in the United States Navy. He received a special citation from Admiral Nimitz of the Pacific Fleet. HE MARRIED Ruby Olson of Salt Lake City in the Salt Lake Temple. They are the parents of two sons and a daughter and have 18 grandchildren. Elder Haight, in addition to his regular assignment as a member of the Council of the Twelve, is vice chairman of Promised Valley Playhouse, member of the executive committee and board of directors of Bonneville Inter-. national Corporation, director of Valtek Corporation, board of advisors of First Security Bank of Utah and board of advisors of the U. of U. College of Business. IN MARCH of 1978 Elder, . Haight received the "Distinguished "Distin-guished Alumnus Award" from Utah State University for his service to the university univer-sity and to the community. The public is invited to attend at-tend the Sunday conference session at 10 a.m. in the Bountiful-Woods Cross Regional Center, 835 North 400 East, North Salt Lake. President F. Burton Howard will conduct the meeting. |
