M Jan Chatlin and friend JoAnn Harris, have made a casserole of their favorite food, baked beans. JAN assembles the ingredients and whips up a casserole of these tangy baked beans in a short time, though a long baking time blends the flavors of this popular food. If there are any left over the beans are equally good and can be frozen and heated for good eating. BAKED BEANS 1 2 size can pork and beans 1 lb. bacon, cut into small pieces 1 green pepper, chopped 1 TB Worcestershire sauce 1 large onion, chopped Vfe cup brown sugar li cup catsup SAUTE bacon in frying pan, until browned, add onion and green pepper and simmer for about 5 minutes over low heat. Drain off excess fat. Mix the remainder of the ingredients with bacon mixture mix-ture and beans and pour into casserole. Bake uncovered at 325 degrees for about 2 hours. Serves 6 to 8 portions, or more smaller servings. JAN IS a 16 year old student at Bountiful High School and loves to cook and be involved ,' in alt the activities at school. . Plays the piano and is a very creative person when it comes to making dry arrangements with weeds or other dry material and also does fresh flower arrangements very well. She loves to play volleyball, tennis and is an ardent skier, both in the water and on the ski slopes in winter. She also does some of her own clothes, enjoys sewing. Jan is another of the talented daughters of Gene and Connie Chatlin who live at 236 E. 1400 S. kj |
