Show Sec!: Zone Change On 20 Acres Of Farmington Land By KATHRYN JENNINGS Farmington City Council met Jan. 19 in the city offices. Mayor Gordon Van Fleet called on John S. Morton, city marshal for a report. Mr. Morton reviewed the December 1977 and the yearly report. IN December there were 18 citations writen: 1 assault; 3 burglary; 1 Burglary alarm; 2 theft; 1 -auto theft; 2 recovery; 1 vandalism; 1 family dispute; 5 traffic; 5 assist; 1 juvenile complaints and runaway; 1 missing person; per-son; 2 suspicious circumstances; circums-tances; 8 vacation checks; 1 escorts; 4 ambulance calls; 4 miscellaneous; 15 contacts, no complaints, making a total of 76 calls. For the year 1977, 639 citations cita-tions written; 4 rape, 10 assault; as-sault; 28 burglary; 3 burglary alarm; 34 theft; 5 auto theft; 3 arson; 1 forgery; 11 recovery; 31 vandalism; 1 weapons; 99 narcotic laws; 7 family offenses; 1 family disputes; dis-putes; 79 liquor laws. NINETEEN public intoxication; in-toxication; 20 disorderly conduct con-duct and disturbing the peace; 42 traffic; 10 public address; 65 transportation; 18 assist; 23 juvenile complaints and runaways; 8 missing persons; 1 prowler; 18 suspicious sus-picious circumstances; 4 suspicious sus-picious vehicles; 2 phone calls; 39 vacation checks; 8 escorts; 20 ambulance calls; 37 miscellaneous; 2 deaths; 250 contacts, no complaints, making a total of 1,542 calls. It was suggested that some community involvement might be a factor in the deterring de-terring of the high burglary rate in the city. LOUIS Barnett reported on activities of the planning commission. Several rezoning changes were recommended by the commission on various properties. Wendell Leavitt brought his water problem before the council. He stated that water from the subdivision just south of his property should not drain onto his land. Some action will be taken to correct this situation. MILO Kirkham and Don Hokason requested a zone change of 20 acres on their property north of Shepard Lane and east of Highway 89. Harold Tippetts made a motion mo-tion to schedule a public hearing on Feb. 16, to rezone from R-S to C-2, this was approved. Violet Lake requested a quit claim deed to a small parcel of land adjoining her property which is zoned R-S. This situation si-tuation is caused by a faulty deed which requires a search of property lines. ENVIROWEST representatives representa-tives requested rezoning of Somerset Hollow property from R-S to R-2. Councilman Tippetts made a motion to hold a public hearing in 15 days. The council coun-cil approved the hearing. ENVIROWEST representatives representa-tives presented answers to the sewer problems posed by Steve Tibbs. Mr. Tibbs was requesting some change in the sewer lines to his lot so he could build a home on an unusual natural situation of his building lot. Envirowest people agreed to take over garbage collections collec-tions in their planned unit development as a responsibility respon-sibility of the Home Owners Association. ASSIGNMENTS to council members for the year have been given. Councilman Richard C. Jones will be in charge of water and garbage; E.T. Johnson, streets and storm drainage; Sherman A. Hoskins, parks, cemetery and recreation; Harold J. Tippetts, Tip-petts, planning and zoning; Boyd K. Mount eer, fire department, sewer and finance, and Max Forbush is the city manager, kj |
