MT. MAPLE DELPHIANS CHAPTER MET WEDNESDAY under direction of President Catherine Ca-therine D. Wills at the home of Mrs. George Nelson. It was a special spe-cial meeting and subjects dealing with Japan were discussed. The last regular meeting of the chapter will be conducted next Wednesday afternoon at Valley Tavern, with President Wills conducting. con-ducting. Mrs. M. R. Straw will be in charge of the topic discussions. Talks will be given by Mrs. C. G. Salisbury, Mrs. J. W. Grant, Mrs. F. L. Graham, Mrs. W. R. Edding-ton, Edding-ton, Mrs. W. W. Clyde, and Mrs. Earl Condie. The meeting-'will also feature the election of officers for next year, the regular meetings of which are scheduled to begin in September and will take up the theme, "Creative "Cre-ative Thinkers." MARJORIE SIMKINS CELEBRATED HER BIRTHDAY with a delightful party given for a group of friends at her home Thursday evening. A delicious luncheon was served early in the evening and the group presented her with a lovely gift. Later the girls went to the show. THE JUNIOR SEWING CLUB MET TUESDAY at the home of their leader, Le-ona Le-ona Allen. The group sang club songs and demonstrations on posture pos-ture were given by Shirley Allen and Peggy Crandall. Sewing problems prob-lems of the club were also discussed dis-cussed during the afternoon. r Mr. and Mrs. Lee W. Davis of this city announce the engagement of their daughter, Ranae, to Clyde C. Stone, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stone, also of Springville. The marriage is to be an event of Thursday, June 18, in the Salt Lake temple. On Friday evening, the couple will be honored with a wedding reception in the First ward amusement amuse-ment hall, to which approximately 350 relatives and friends have been invited. Both young people are graduates of the local high school and Mr. Stone is also a former student of the B. Y. U. Following their marriage, they plan to make their home in Springville. Spring-ville. MRS. EMMA ROWLAND WAS HOSTESS to members of the Social Twelve club at her home Thursday evening. eve-ning. The group enjoyed contract bridge, followed by tasty refreshments. refresh-ments. Prizes for the evening's games were won by Mrs. Esther Johnson, John-son, Mrs. Mabel Simkins and Mrs. Emma Kennedy, the latter two being be-ing special guests. A GROUP OF FRIENDS ENJOYED A PARTY in the canyon Saturday evening. Supper was served to Mr. and Mrs. Norman Tipton, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Har-ry Ewing, Mr. and Mrs. Mell Kel-ley, Kel-ley, and Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Robertson. |
