Show I SERET V V V SOCIETIESj It is the season of semiannual elections elec-tions among the Odd Fellows and the V J lodge halls have nightly been the scenes of friendly rivalry for the several V V sev-eral offices The attendance while large was not as groat as was anticipated antici-pated the officers elect so far as reported V ported have evidently been chosen from r J those most active in the work of the 1 V lodges and it will be noted by those V i acquainted thai several very important li t import-ant changes have occurred t1 A list of elected officers in all bodies of the order so far as they have f reached us is appended other reports will be made next week The several sev-eral bodes of the order have made god V V progress the pat week and the usual amount of degree work is reported it Those lodges which have candidates I f awaiting admission are anxious to < j complete the work before the July reports when a telling increase to the i membership is anticipated t The next prominent event that is being talked of among the fraternity Is the V ODD FELLOWS EXCURSION < which will be to Saltair beach on Thursday June 25 The Salt Lake subordinate and Rebekah lodges have a general committee of twentyfive active ac-tive members of the order at work and much of the preliminary work has already been done and it is exoeotod that at a meeting to be held tomorrow V V night amusements fur the younger people are receiving consideration and a large amount has been appropriated for the purchase of presents The boat Talula has been engaged and for the VV F date set apart the order will own beautiful Saltair The Saltair Beach company have made many improvements at the resort re-sort and there are now five open spaces outside the pavilion which are under shade and will be No2 initiated one candidate last Friday night and received re-ceived an application for membership Enterprise lodge No 15 had work in the second degree on Wednesday night the same being conferred on two members Fidelity lodge No 17 on V Friday night made a fraternal visit to No 2 and assisted in the initiation ceremonies cere-monies V There was a large vote cast in Utah lodge No 1 on Wednesday and Ivy Tempte Rathbone sisters Calanthe Monday night gave a reception recep-tion and at least one hundred and fifty people were present The progrmme was an excellent one in every way The main feature Wednesday and at his old post of duty Brothers Barrows McAllister and L W Peterson were appointed a committee com-mittee to decorate the late Brother Burtons grave with flowers every member of No 10 donating a small plant Among the visitors attending were P 1 W Collins Brothers Price Evans Mower and Wright Brother Everill whose business prevented his attending the meeting for the past three months was present and made a few pleasant remarks Brother Price extended a cordial invitation in behalf of No 15 to No 10 to attend their reception re-ception on Monday evening next A more efficient officer than Brother McQuarrie has never presided over a meeting of No 10 and it is hoped someday some-day Sn the future will again find him an officer of the lodge Brother R A Hasbrouck is too well known to need much mention He is the most popular popu-lar officer In the lodge and his vote was unanimous for 11 W No 10s entertainment committee have got their heads together and it is only a their new quarters in the Odd Fellows temple I on Market street Three applications for membership were received when the meeting adjourned In conseauence of the regular monthly social previously announced an-nounced to take place The heavy rain storm that set in about dark deterred many from attending al though a goodly number were present to participate in the evenings enjoyment The chief attraction was progressive high five followed by Ice cream and cake in the banquet hal and even the inclement inclem-ent weather was powerless to dampen the spirits of those present Messrs Keyes and Arnold and Mrs Strong were the winners of the prizes Woodmen of tile World A very interesting ceremony took place I yesterday afternoon at Mount Olivet cemetery cem-etery under the auspices of this order 1 I was the unveiling of the monument at the grave of the late Lester H Graves Neighbor Graves who was a valued and much respected member of the order was born on January 13 iSIS and departed depart-ed this life on October 21 1895 The brothers erected a beautiful monument monu-ment to his memory at his last resting I place and yesterday the ceremony of unveiling took place In the presence of a large assemblage The brothers met at their forest in the Odd Fellows temple and headed by a band marched to the I corner of Second East and Socbnd South streets where they and a large number of the general public boarded Street cars and rode to the cemetery The ceremonies were in accordance with the ritual and were exceedingly impressive I im-pressive Professor John P Meakin delivered de-livered the oration I was short but i was most excellent fitting tribute to I the memory of the deceased and helpful land l-and encouraging to the listeners Mr I Meakin concluded with an exceedingly touching recitation of the piece Earnest Faithful The dJeetg g was a masterpiece and was spoken so feelingly feel-ingly that the listeners were visibly affected af-fected thereby The
